Mona Stone serves as Thrive’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Legal Officer. She brings over 25 years of wide-ranging experience as an attorney and compliance specialist to her role. She is a strategic and pragmatic professional with demonstrated achievements in supporting company leadership and business units on daily and long-term matters. Stone has the rare ability to look beyond litigation and dispute issues in order to provide integrated business solutions and a practical, efficient approach to problem-solving.  Stone leverages her vast experience and business acumen to analyze challenges, lead teams, and exceed objectives.  She proactively protects business operations and resources by foreseeing issues or developments. At Thrive, Stone oversees Thrive’s subsidiaries and drives the company’s strategic business lines.

Stone has served on several non-profit boards, including the Arizona Association of Corporate Counsel, ATHENA International, and the Institute for Inclusion in the Legal Profession.  She graduated from Bradley University and earned her J.D. from Tulane University School of Law. Based on her many professional accomplishments and civic leadership, Stone was peer-nominated as one of 2008’s “Top 40 Illinois Attorneys Under 40 To Watch” by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. She practiced law in Chicago for 13 years and was promoted to the first Indian American equity partner at the Locke Lord firm before moving to Phoenix in 2010 and joining Greenberg Traurig, where she earned the inaugural GT Career Development Liaison of the Year award in 2014.

Stone received recognition as a Team Member, Law360 “Employment Practice Group of the Year” in 2011, and was named one of the Top 25 Arizona Women attorneys by 2016 Southwest Super Lawyers.  Stone earned the Torchbearer In House Counsel Pro Bono Commission award in 2017, and was a finalist for the Arizona In-House Counsel Award (Non-Profit Sector) in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Among her many other honors, she has been recognized as follows:

In 2022 Stone was honored to be recognized as the “Outstanding In-House Counsel of the Year,” bestowed by the State Bar of Arizona.  This prestigious distinction was awarded as “Recognizing an Arizona in-house counsel that has made outstanding contributions to the in-house counsel practice and the community at large. The recipient of this award is a respected strategic and innovative leader who exemplifies the following traits: sound and trusted judgement, excellent legal and business acumen, vision, leadership, integrity and ethics.”

Based on her demonstrated professional achievements, Stone was inducted into the American Bar Foundation as a Fellow in 2023.  She was named “General Counsel of the Year 2023” by ALM/Law.com and a “2023 Woman of Achievement” by In Business Magazine.  Also in 2023, Goodwill’s Legal Department was recognized by the Arizona Women Lawyers Association with the “All in for Women” award for promoting and encouraging the success of women lawyers.  Stone was featured in Modern Counsel in 2024 in the article, “Mona Stone Leads with Integrity and Irreproachable Character.”  Also in 2024 Stone was awarded the Arizona Association of Corporate Counsel’s In-House Counsel Award (Non-Profit Sector) for delivering superior leadership and adding exceptional value to an Arizona non-profit and the communities she serves.  Stone is an AV®-Preeminent rated attorney and is licensed to practice law in Illinois and Arizona.
